Hey beautiful people! Happy Thursday! And yes, I can feel the cool gentle breeze of December already. Well, I gave birth to new books last month :) and today I decided to write a little book haul. I haven't read most of it yet except first chapter of the 'Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini. I love his other two books 'And the Mountains Echo' and 'Thousand Splendid Suns' so I am very excited to get my hands on this one.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

This book tells the story about Amir and his friend Hassan who are desperate to join a kite-fighting tournament. But something happened (I don't know that yet) the first chapter of the book doesn't often reveal that :) okay, I have heard about this book the first year it was published but it was after I read Khaled Hosseini's third book 'And the Mountain Echos' that I became interested. I was introduced to another world to people and it has change my life forever ;)

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

I randomly picked this book for our (husband and I) "Pick a New Author Challenge" and for me it was love at first quote and it says, "Open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever." I feel like I resonate with it in so many ways and that is why I right away felt the connection. The story tells about a father and daughter struggle to take refuge from the Nazis and a German orphan named Werner. Okay I can already feel that this book will stir my emotions crazy.

Skeleton Coast by Clive Cussler

If this book is what I think it is then this is going to be my new love ;) The blurb seems interesting and since I love 'The Atlantis' which I read half of it and promise to finish, I am sure this one is going to be very exciting. Who wouldn't love something like the National Treasure-Da Vince Code-The Librarian kind of plot and judging by the concept of the cover... it is what I think it is ;)

A Friend Like Henry by Nuala Gardner

The story is based on the author's son Dale who is autistic and how their dog Henry help him cope with it. It's an inspiring story about a family and their struggle to understand their son's world and how a dog made a difference in their lives. And yes, I am inspired. I know this book is going to leave a mark in my heart forever :)

Hey beaugorgeous! Happy Sunday! I am having a low key Sunday at home which basically translates to doing a ton of reading. And because I am bored I decided to share my current Weekend read which is Deborah Harkness' All Souls Trilogy A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life.

I got the complete set from my latest scavenging at the flea market and got it at a very, very, surprisingly affordable price. And yes, I salvage and adopt abandon, old, unwanted, used books because they deserve a home besides that I can't always afford the new ones :)

Anyways, the All Souls Trilogy tells about Diana and Matthew who is a witch and a vampire and their fight against the congregation which is against their relationship because of an old rule that creatures such as witches, vampires and daemons should not marry other creatures except their own. Yes, an adult version of the Twilight Saga. The story is about love, acceptance, diversity and unity that although we come from different backgrounds, races and beliefs we can all come together for a common good. (okay okay I am not going to do a book review here). It is however a very interesting read. A vampire and a witch falling in love, meeting the inlaws oneside a vampire who can feast on you anytime and the other are witches who can make you disapear, step children, daemon friends, lurking ghost of a great grandma, a haunted house, angry wizards and an angry vampire brother inlaw. And and and... conspiracy. Would you think that Lazarus that man who rose from the dead can be a vampire? I mean what creature can come back from being dead? Vampires! (high pitch witchy voice) okay I am joking... its just that this book is so mind boggling you start thinking things.........

Also, Deborah Harkness in this book introduces Darwin's theory of evolution in a whole different perspective. Get this... the theory is that originally there are four kinds of dominant creatures in this world; humans, witches, vampires and daemons. However we kind of evolve to fit to our society so everyone adapted and therefore live as humans...to live ordinary lives... but somehow these creatures stands out in a way... oh well... ;) I am not going into this... LOL!

Well actually one of the other things that really attracted me to it is because it is a historical-fantasy novel which I love of all the genres. Think time travel and going places. There is no limit to the imagination. Yes, travelling at no cost at all. Ain't that frugal? LOL!

Well, I have no intentions of writing a book review on this...yet! I might ;) but not just today. I feel like writing too much details will suck the life out of me. LOL!

So finally moving on, on to other things, we finally decided to have our tree this year and there's a lone christmas ball on it at least. And I don't see such a rush to get it done any time soon. Well, maybe I can declare the first day of December an official christmas tree day and force husband to take part...well actually he is not a christmas tree guy either. And sometimes I think that he is the grinch in disguise... but I don't really care... he's my grinch...ooh would that make me mrs. grinch? LOL! and please excuse me for writing like a twelve year old :) the lady has to chill here ;)

hey guys! I have been hibernating the past few days. Well, I have somehow decided to take multiple breaks from social media and the internet world since I needed a lot of time to rest and relax and calm myself. I know blogging somehow relaxes me but I needed to have some time to just sit and do nothing but read ;) and yes I got my hands full with some other things too. So my life is pretty much up on the waist and I am wading happy through all the simple stuffs I do. And yes, been a little sick too due to muscle pain and what-nots. Seems like my recovering body can't keep up with my hyper self :) that is why I needed to halt and rest my nerves ;)

Anyways, hibernating season won't be complete without a few reads from some of my favorite writers and of course some book adventures. So, my Ryan and I had a little trip to the bookshop and got a few books to read for this month. And yes, we did get it from a book sale. We ran into a clearance sale and got the books for 9 baht per book... I know right? I almost faint for joy! but although it wasn't that much expensive we still had to pick the best ones or just ended up with someone else's trash. Something to keep in mind when "picking". So here are my favorite pick for this month.

It is the weekend again and while most of us are on the go catching up with friends and "lost time" frolicking about doing all fun except work, my idea of a fun weekend is often snuggling and catching up with my readings. And although I read books like I would do a buffet, I have my own personal picks when in comes to authors and storyline. So here are my picks for a weekend book share ;)

James Patterson & Maxine Paetro's 11th Hour - I feel in love with James Patterson when I was back in the Philippines fighting cancer. His twist unexpected endings ignites my love of surprises. The story evolves around two unrelated murder and a detective who has to struggle between solving both cases, pregnancy and a seemingly perfect relationship gone wrong. This is kind of my read version of Law and Order Special Victims Unit where Sergeant Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) run after the devil itself. And one thing I really love about this book is the way it is written in a very comprehensive way. Terms are broken down into which readers can easily relate.

Synopsis - Detective Olivia Boxer is pregnant and is also torn between solving two murder cases, a serial gang killer and a discovered backyard full of buried heads... and is her husband cheating on her? ... and so when the evidence of the cop/gang killer leads to her best friend, Boxer must find the truth about him and do her best to eliminate him as a suspect or is he? and not only she is dealing with pregnancy and personal issues, she is also being attack by a journalist who fancy tainting the investigation as well as her personal involvement with the cases.

Jeanette Winterson's The Daylight Gate - The story is set on the era where science, sorcery and witch craft gets complicatedly tangled. So if you are into witchery, mystery and ghoulish plot, then reading this book would surely give you a back in time adventure. *please see back cover for the synopsis.

Dan Brown's Inferno - a mystery thriller novel which depicted Dante Alighiere's journey to hell. The book also features world famous museums, artifacts and a lot of breathtaking chase into mysterious alleys. I specially adore Dan Brown's twisted plot between fact and fiction. Not only his book plays a bizarre actualization of reality, conspiracy, history and imagination but also it brings you into an allegorical presentation of the arts and history.
