How to reStyle an Old (thriftshop find) Shirt

Good morning beautiful people! it's MonDIY! yey! I know, I know seems very ambitious but you can't keep a girl from DIYs... so without further adieu let me show you I restyle an old shirt that I got (of course) from the thrift shop. I love this long sleeved shirt but it's baggy and a little out of style :)  so a simple and easy makeover is the solution for a wearable thrift store find.

I didn't really plan on redoing a lot on this shirt. I love the floral prints and the fabric and the fact that the shirt looks really *new and I don't want to make any mistakes and ended up throwing the shirt. So minor changes it is.

First, I had to remove the  front pockets and the pads. I love front pockets but I had to let go of this one since it a little too big and it makes the dress look outdated. I also had to remove the pads... although I change my mind and decided to put it back to give the shirt a 90's vibe :)

Then I cut the sleeves. Cut one side at a time and make sure all the sides are even before you start cutting the other one.

And you are ready to fold. Fold to the length that you prefer from the inside out, then iron the fold to make sewing easier.

Find a thread which matches the dominant color of the shirt.

Then sew through the inside of the fold so there won't be any visible thread lines.

And there, easy and fun way to restyle an old shirt. Please stay tune to see the over all look of the shirt and how I wear it.

Have a wonderful week gorgeous people!

MonDIY: My First Project ;)

I am probably the most unqualified person to do a DIY like this. But like most of us, Pinterest got me started plus my best friend Melody @www.domesstique.com got me inspired. So since it is a Monday hence the MonDIY (got it?) ;) and I got nothing else to do and I needed to rest me' eyes for a while from reading and crocheting I thought I would  challenge my hands on some easy DIY.

And since I got this faux planks from a broken shoe cabinet, I thought I would use it for this project. So here I just painted the planks with a water base paint... okay, it's actually water color but I thought water base makes it sound professional (if there's any difference)  LOL!

Then I printed some letters to serve as stencils and trace it on the planks. And oh, I just picked some random quotations from the internet that I relate to and then proceed to my tracing ;) not that hard eyh? ... and also it is very important to let the planks dry first before doing this process.

Then I got some paint which would contrast the planks' color. Therefore the yellow. Actually, I thought the grey in the middle is kind of gloomy but I ran out of white so there's the grey. And then trace the letters over with the yellow paint.

And voila! my first DIY! Have Wonderful Monday Beautiful people!
